adventuring

Ah, a something to sit in.

The outside world...

... is cold and a bit damp. Hmm.

Building a snowthing

Normal service is resumed

Oh joy, more snow.

Snowy snowy snowy.

Still got a bit of colour in the house though!

Skating ducks - or a Photo Frenzy

The duck pond, sorry Heritage Loch, is still partially frozen, and the ducks were having fun skating across it.

Hmm, I'm rubbish at bird recognition.

Giant Cat of Dooooooom.
Actually that's Miss Mouse's dinky child-sized chair he's on - I like the lack of scale clues!

Miss Mouse herself - pretty colours on her, aren't they?

And.... Best Bit of Homework ever!

Spring, doin' its thing

Big blue sky and widdle fluffy clouds.

Crocuses

And, ah, why not? Yep, it's the kitchen daffs again!

Sunday, 21 February 2010

Er, a tad repetitive possibly..

Have I mentioned how much I love daffodils? The perfect Happy Flower!

Saturday, 20 February 2010

A host, a..

Oh, you know, the daffodil thing. Teeny-tiny daffs brightening up the kitchen window-sill.

Hurrah for silly vampires!

And hurrah for the Book People - eight books for not-very-much-at-all, hours of silly vampire-ness :-D.

The 'oh heck I can't think of a title' title

It's the February school break so the Boy and I have been finding things to do. With Miss Mouse at nursery, we took the opportunity to wander up to the library for a bit* then on the way home went 'exploring' along a path we'd walked past before but never been along. Aside from all the rubbish and burnt-out-mysterious-bits-of-stuff, it was quite pretty with the sun out and a bit of blue sky. So that's me with me bag o'books - a book about the universe for the Boy and a Terry Pratchett book for me. On the advice of Uncle Hopalong's friends I'm giving Mr Pratchett another go having not read one of his for years.

* Miss Mouse can walk that far but gets very moany on the way back. It's nice to walk with the Boy at something approximating a reasonable pace rather than the Epic Dawdle we have to adopt with Miss Mouse in tow.

No school but an action-packed day

He's a very organised Boy and thoughtfully provided me with an itinerary. Top right: a Chinese dragon was to be made for Chinese New Year. Airfix is suggested top left but that is a Daddy job. Also for Daddy is the most excellent game entitled..

Yes, 'plansis vs zombeez' (which MrBorg is playing as I type).

Can ya tell what it is yet?

Yes, it's MrBorg's Dwarven Battle Bonnet!

Scruffy cat

Normally a quite smart-looking cat, with his Rorschach markings. Today he looked like he'd been through the bin (probably he had been - opening the bin is his party-trick).

Transmogrification

The Household Six~Year~Old, completely without any prompting, produced a picture of a dinosaur in a rocket-ship. Spooky. Actually it's even cooler than that - they're ghost dinosaurs in a spaceship zapping the moon because they show up in the moonlight. I'm so proud :-).

He was having a very creative day actually - he got the idea for this purple dinosaur from a kids' art book and did his own thing with it. He made the dinosaur first then decided it needed a backdrop, so he did that and stuck the dinosaur on it.

*sigh*

I miss driving a tractor - however I've still got my mug, a bit of sunshine, and coffee :-).

little fluffy clouds

Blue skies, little fluffy clouds, aeroplane (look carefully).

Willow harvest

Oh my legs.

I spent a few hours helping out at the willow harvest at Kittochside. The weather was pleasantly mild and the company was good so I had a great time (and came home with some willow to plant), but this evening I can really feel the ache in my legs!

Washing the car

Despite a waterproof coat, trousers, wellie boots and an umbrella, Miss Mouse somehow managed to come back in looking like a drowned rat. Or at least one that's been swimming.

Nodding off

Watching Mythbusters of an evening with Hester nodding off on my legs. Bliss.

Uber-mummying for the masses

Miss Mouse and I made chocolate-chip cookies - delicious, abundant cookieness, filling the house with sublime baking smells.

Yeah, we made it from a packet.

Baking and the Boy

What could he be doing?

Well, due to the influence of this week's reading book, the Boy is making Cheese Stars.

The End Result:

They look quite nice but actually the Boy wasn't that keen and, as I'm not much of a cheesey person, neither was I. However we did have a lot of fun making them, and I should imagine that the birds will be grateful if we give them some tomorrow.

Quack

We went on a trip to feed the ducks after school. The loch is still partially frozen, so looks very bleak when the sun's not out but today it was bright and clear.

We didn't have much bread with us but these ducks know this loch is a good place to find gullible humans. As a result they're well-fed.

I like this one - they looked rather sociable swimming towards each other but actually they kept to their trajectories and ended up swimming in opposite directions.

Cold enough?
