Hogmanay

Frrrrrrrosssssssty!'Imelda' nicking shoes again. You probably can't see them really but she's wearing Mum's sandals.

Approx. 11.45 pm - torchlit procession.

Tuesday 30 December 2008

Halo!

Uncle Hopalong and his new scarf - the pics without the lightshade halo have come out annoyingly dark..

Cosy

My beloved, my brother and my dad.

Friday 26 December 2008

Boxing Day fun - best frocks again!

My beloved with our gorgeous nephew.
All the best people accessorise with teddy-bears you know.

Thursday 25 December 2008

Shiny happy people

Stocking time.
Weird effect (not deliberate), but I like it.
Pretty. Either one. New frock and new kilt.

Wednesday 24 December 2008

The sound of sleighbells

Christmas Eve and the kids were happy but not, thank goodness, over-excited.

The washing-up bowl in the foreground is because the Boy threw up spectacularly the night before.. fortunately there wasn't a repeat performance.

Sunday 21 December 2008

Gits

This is what I found when I went to work - a crime scene! Somebody had tried to break into the farmhouse :-(. Fortunately they hadn't managed it :-D.

Saturday 20 December 2008

Thorin sits down and starts singing about gold

Chocolate coins at Uncle Hopalong's. Gleeful or what?

Silliness

Work night out for Christmas - much silliness. Unfortunately I had come down with a stinking cold (which I still haven't shaken off and it's the 5th of Jan. now) and didn't enjoy it as much as I could have.

Tuesday 16 December 2008

Knitty fun

Playing guess the yarn (and the colour of it!) in Purplejen's mystery packages at the knitting group. It was also the last night at our venue as it closed just before Christmas, boohoo.. :-(

Sunday 14 December 2008

Time to catch up - wet December

The day of the Christmas event at work, but the only half-decent picture I got was this one.

I've still been taking pics (most days anyway) but had no time in the run of to Christmas to upload and choose them for the blog.

Saturday 13 December 2008

Just for KateMc - bauble

Well, there it is :-).

Wednesday 10 December 2008

A view to a hill

Or some snow-capped mountains (look carefully). It was a beautiful clear afternoon so the Boy and I went up to the highest point in town again to see what we could see.

Tuesday 9 December 2008

A festive cheat

I didn't get a chance to take any pics so here's one from Sunday. I came home from work to find the decorations up :-).

Monday 8 December 2008

Festive

Me and the boy, being festive after school. I look hungover - just the effect of Christmas shopping...

Sunday 7 December 2008

Looks like a toy!

Considering what a grey dreich day it was, I'm pleased with the red tractor and the lurid green moss!

Friday 5 December 2008

A busy day

A plant.Bit fuzzy, but weird colours.

Evening silliness.

Thursday 4 December 2008

The circulatory system

Okay, this isn't the circulatory system - this is the scene ten minutes after I realised we'd run out of milk. I really didn't want to go out again and as I'd had a long day at a first-aid refresher course, which leads me to.. (ta-daaah!):
The Circulatory System!
No, it wasn't by me. We'd divided into two groups to do some stuff. The other group produced this diagram of the circulatory system, apparently of a troll. This is revenge for the way everyone laughed at my diagram of the respiratory system and its cauliflower lungs - alas it had already been rubbed off before I remembered that I had my camera with me or you would see that it was clearly a Work of Genius.

Wednesday 3 December 2008

Birdie

Poor starling was a bit peeved that he (?) was too big to cling to the feeders properly. He gave it a good go though.

Tuesday 2 December 2008

Goldilocks visits the three bears in winter

And finds three scarves almost finished. Mama Bear, it appears, has a short attention span.

Sunday 30 November 2008

Cool

Pretty, innit?

Saturday 29 November 2008

A day of contrast

The frost on the rear window of my car this morning. The gritter didn't make it up our road, it stayed icy all day.

And the contrast - the Boy in the cosiness of the cafe after his swimming class. This is his treat - a bag of crisps and a carton of juice. The swimming pool was blissfully tropically warm (it's usually a bit chilly imho). I took my swimming stuff too so had a swim while he was in his lesson.

Wriggle

What else can I say?

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall

Who's the cutest of the Small?

Wednesday 26 November 2008

Time-travelling

Or in other words - cheating!
I didn't take any pics 'today' (forgot to take the card with me) so here's one I've taken 'tomorrow' of what I've been doing 'today'. Got all that?
I'm kicking myself about forgetting the card because we were doing a deep clean at the farmhouse with the conservator and there could have been some fascinatingly obscure pictures - old moth damage to textiles, me wearing a 'back vac' and looking like a Ghostbuster, four of us on our hands and knees vacuuming the carpet inch by painstaking inch, wrapping cushions in acid-free tissue and thick plastic to be frozen.. It was a good day - very satisfying work and surprisingly interesting.

Monday 24 November 2008

Vastly improved

I tackled the dining-room. There's still clutter but at least it's contained clutter. And in a perfect bit of timing, the Boy started learning about garden birds at school so finding the bird poster amongst the clutter was a Good Thing.

Sunday 23 November 2008

Tree

I love photographing this tree, it always manages to pose for me :-D.
Don't be deceived by the glorious blue sky, it was baltic today, and by afternoon was so overcast that we had to close the farmhouse a bit early so that I could get back down from the farm before it was actually pitch black.

Saturday 22 November 2008

Wheeeeee!

Over at Uncle D and Auntie L's house. Spinning chairs, what could be more fun?

Thursday 20 November 2008

Blue-eyed boy

The first school photo. Did I hear an 'awwww' at the back? 'Course I did!

Wednesday 19 November 2008

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers..

Not that it's St. Crispin's day.
The boy requested that I photograph his castle. He even decided on the lighting.

Tuesday 18 November 2008

The ton

I think I'm hitting the 100-day mark with these - that's not including the days I've missed obviously. Quite a nice day so M and I went for a walk. We've both got stinking colds so couldn't go far.

The pic above is a marshy patch not far away - it's an odd little wild oasis in the middle of town. I saw a heron there once which was most unexpected.

Sunday 16 November 2008

A hard day's work

I spent the whole of Sunday afternoon at work cutting bits of Santas - what an odd way to earn my crust! This is in preparation for the craft stuff at the Christmas event.

Friday 14 November 2008

Jolly

A little present from Granny and Grandpa to Miss M - she loves it! The next thing I have to do is take a picture of her wearing her red coat and red hat with her fringe poking out so we can compare and contrast. Though you can just scroll down to the 11th Nov. pic to get a fair idea!

Thursday 13 November 2008

With Granny and Grandpa

Or 'Ga-ee an' Gapa' as M would say. They don't get to see this set of grandparents all that often, but they have a great time when they do!

Wednesday 12 November 2008

Guess!

Give up?
It's moon and some trees. Well, I tried my best!

Tuesday 11 November 2008
