Water water everywhere

And actually all of it potable. The heavens do have this tendency to open just as the school day finishes...

Metal tartan

I took this picture at Crossmyloof station - it's fences on the various steps and ramps down to the platform.

Sheep repair and butterfly

While tidying up I found these sheep. I'd got them when I still worked at the museum - they were on sale in the shop but one had got decapitated so I got them (either cheap of free, can't remember now) and had been meaning to er, recapitate the ram for ages. Actually it was a doddle to fix and it looks rather good now.

And the view from Miss Mouse's window, including the stained glass butterfly she loves so much :-).

Berry bright

It's really the 17th of September and I have three weeks worth of pictures to update. Ulp. Anyway this was a glorious day, very vivid colours.

A peaceful weekend

Apart from the Boy having a spectacular nosebleed on the way to his swimming lesson, it was a quiet pottering-round weekend, and today's picture is Miss Mouse after eating ice-cream.

A successful first week back

The Boy was overjoyed at being Star of the Week first week back. Even better, oh all right, almost as exciting, they had a 'real author' in talking to them - this being Oliver Jeffers, hence the copy of Lost and Found in the picture, signed and in fact doodled in by the author.

No patience with the paparazzi

I think she's got a bright future with OK! magazine when she's perfected the 'no pictures' pose this young! She's probably a bit too classy though..

A cheaty picture

Taken on the Thursday but of a coffee set I got for £3 in a charity shop on the Wednesday. My parents have a very similar set which I've always liked, so I reckoned this was a bargain :-). Matching mugs, how classy is that eh? Makes a change from the usual mismatched motley mugs!

'You take my picture Mama?

She's still young enough to like posing for the camera - some of the time anyway!

Back to school

And the Boy was so excited about going into Primary Two that he was up and dressed at 7.30, breakfasted by eight and had to be restrained from putting his coat on at twenty past eight!

The last day of the summer holidays

And what do I have to show for it? Well, a few indistinct pictures my Beloved took at his mother's house as it was her birthday, and some taken by me of the Alien's new bloomers. So the bloomers it is!

Attentive

I can't remember what she was paying attention to though it's her Daddy's end of the settee she's looking at - perhaps he was telling her something implausible, she looks a bit doubtful.

My girlie dining-room

My friend came back from her holidays and had got me this - doesn't it go perfectly with the tablecloth? Cheers me up whenever I look at it :-).

It's hard work having fun

We had a day out with Grandma at a local park - much fun was had by all. This was taken towards the end of the day when they were beginning to flag a bit.

And now young Skywalker.. you will eat tuna

It was the WW meeting tonight. Our glorious leader was trying to convince us that tuna, besides being low in fat/really healthy, is actually quite nice, and was making a recipe from one of the WW recipe books. Sadly it was a tuna 'meatballs' recipe called Tuna Polpettine and three of us started laughing about Star Wars and Empereror Palpatine. Actually the 'meatballs' weren't bad and you couldn't tell they were made of tinned tuna, but once you have the Imperial march in your head, that's that really!

A knitty night oot

Walking up along Argyle St in Glasgow's city centre at 7.30pm, on my way to see my knitting buddies (or 'the coven' as my Beloved calls us). After a rather dreich day it was a gorgeous evening.

I love weather!

Look at that sky - completely bonkers! It looked as if the sky was about to fall on our heads, but it didn't. By Toutatis!

Idling away the hours in the sun

It's a nice life..

Later that day, there was one of those mad 10-minute summer downpours that had Miss Mouse running for her wellie boots ("Puddles!")

Pottering around.

Madam tidying up at Uncle Hopalong's house. I love that skirt she's wearing - the pink dots are actually cartoony kittens inside heart-shapes. I bought it for her long before she grew into it because even then it was just so 'her'. And it has an adjustable waist so will do her for ages, given how long it still is on her. I prefer it with a red t-shirt but I have to admit that the pink (*spit*) looks ok with this skirt.

My rival

My Beloved's other Twue Wuv, looking shiny in the sunshine. He was very pleased when he was off on his Lang Way Roond adventure and proper grown-up bikers were fascinated by it because no-one knew what the hell it was. Yay for customising! Even I must admit it's looking quite pretty now . Except for the orange trim on the wheels.

Gobo!

I was reading the Alias Johnny Stiletto website the other day and have become much more aware of shadows. Today was a lovely sunny day (yes, Weather Moaners, a lovely sunny day) and I took a number of photos of gate shadows along the road where my brother lives. I'd never noticed how many designs of gates there are until I photographed them - this was my favourite.

Good clean fun

On Sunday I went to the Farmers' Market and had a lovely time mooching around. Among other things I got these gorgeous-smelling soaps.

Four children and a bookcase

Not what you could ever call technically accomplished, but I really like this picture because it demonstrates the perpetual motion of children, particularly when they're in groups! Very complicated orbits, they have..

This was taken in Edinburgh at my friend's house. It was a mini-Gathering of forum buddies - three mums, six kids, lots of laughs, a brilliant day. Also notable because I drove to Edinburgh, my first long-ish drive and I coped!

As an aside I can thoroughly recommend Our Dynamic Earth - interesting, plenty of detail for grown-ups, plenty to see and mess with for the kids, great Visitor Services staff, and unexpected earthquakes!

An elegant weapon for a more civilized age

A parcel arrived this morning, addressed to Mr. Borg - he came home at lunchtime to open it. Inside was a weapon not as clumsy or random as a blaster. The Boy appropriated it, Mr. Borg made do with the old one. An epic 10-minute battle ensued. A wine-glass was almost broken.

The Artists' Studio

The Boy goes trad - though not, you'll notice, with the more usual blue-stripe-at-the-top-for-sky. It's more a sort of patchwork - I like the way the squares of colour contrast with the curvy path. Anyway, Grandpa, he wishes you to admire!

Miss Mouse on the other hand (literally, in this case), favours a more multi-sensory approach :-D.

Murderous Zombie Plants and Single-Malt Knitting Needles

This was the day on which we went to a really great (despite the showers) barbecue at the Als' house and caught up with old friends from the CompSci days. So naturally I managed to leave my little camera there and have only these pictures I took with the 'good' camera this morning.

First, I suddenly noticed that one of the lilies had flowered! I'm not turning my back on it, it's up to something, you mark my words.

Second, taking a leaf out of Mum's book, I decanted my many loose knitting needles into a whisky cylinder. We finally finished the Bowmore a week or two ago - it was a bottle Hopalong bought for me in duty-free when he was working in the Netherlands many moons ago. It lasted for years because I drink so infrequently and for a long time Mr Borg was teetotal. He isn't now. He finished it. I think I shall drink his Speyside.
