Funky fungi

They look almost cuddly, don't they?

Pot

It's an upside-down scented candle holder - I just love the colours. I took a photo of it right way up as well but the colours didn't look as rich. It's on a table in D&L's back garden - lucky them, fields of coos at the back!
(Oh yeah, found my battery charger again - Project 365 is back on track!)

Bukkit

A bucket of rainwater kept her entertained for ages.

The music of the spheres..

.. is music to my ears - at last I've managed to unravel that gorgeous hank of yarn (see Aug 19th!) into something resembling a sphere and knittable.

No piggies, but something of a pig-sty nevertheless

You'll never to get to call our house minimal!

I've spent this week looking for the battery charger for my camera as the battery gave up on Sunday as I photographed the piglings. I finally found the spare battery but that's running low too. Still looking for the charger, and in this kind of clutter it could be anywhere! The boy's Leapster is also awol..

For Dad! Piggies!

Aren't they great?

Miriam - one of them's called Tabitha!

Chilled..

This was taken just after we got back from his very first swimming lesson - which he really enjoyed. He looks oddly grown-up in this picture I think - must be the slightly odd expression.

Important members of our household

'Rabbit' and 'mydeddy'. M used to have her snuggly (known to her as 'gike', we have no idea why) but it vanished last week. Thankfully she has happily transferred her affections to 'mydeddy', who was actually originally the boy's, but he's much less fickle than his sister and has remained utterly loyal to Rabbit for well over three years.

Monolith

This is actually from a few days ago as none of today's pics were suitable/in focus, but I've been meaning to include it anyway. Our compost bin arrived! And the boy and I set it up. He wanted the slide right next to it so he can stand on the steps and open the lid himself.

A tale of paint

Well, it speaks for itself really..

A peaceful way to spend an evening

Though not an awful lot to show for it..

I've spent the evening turning a skein of gorgeous yarn into a ball. As you can see it's become a bit of a tangle and the resulting ball is still a bit on the small side. Nice to do something largely mindless for once though.

Slipping through my fingers

The obligatory 'first-day-at-school' photo - such a hectic day one way and another that they were the only photos I took.

Horsing around

A ploughing demonstration - the horses are Clydesdales.

Deep in thought

I got the boy one of those 'wipe clean' activity books today and he spent ages with it. Doesn't he look serious?
I just have to include the following one too. The outline they give is just of the flower - being him, he decided to embellish it, first with a bee on the flower, then with a hive, then a jar of honey (the black thing), and finally...

.. with a queen bee :-D. She gained legs as well a few minutes after I took this photo.

Culzean in the rain

For those of you who don't know, that rhymes.

I took no pictures whatsoever yesterday - my first real failure with this blog, but between taking M to the doc, picking up A's school polo-shirts and going to soft-play there was very little opportunity.

But I've decided this means I'm perfectly justified in putting several pics from today's trip to Culzean with C's mum! As a matter of fact, it only rained briefly but I'm including a wet picture:

Yes, I'm still in love with macro mode.

The weather cleared up and we eventually found our way down to the beach, where Miss Mouse paddled for the first time:
In fact this was her first trip to the coast - isn't that weird? She took to the beach like an oystercatcher to water though. This is her discovering that that floaty seaweed turns to a blob of slime when you take it out of the water. Apparently it gets funnier on repetition..
Thing One had a great time too and was exceedingly proud of his sandcastle - check out the Aardman grin!

I confess

I'm cheating - I've had a hectic couple of days and I'm uploading this two days late. The pic was taken on Wednesday though.

Before I went batty

I hardly took any photos today - just a few of me and Miss M this morning. She thought the whole process was most amusing, as you can tell from the smirk. According to Clarence's picture blog the odd self-portrait in a Project365 is a Good Thing, so I'll suppress my natural disinclination to show my gormless features in a public place! So this is me, scruffy as usual with my hair unbrushed. Miss M looks a little cherub while still in her jimjams and with chocolate smeared round her mouth..
The highlight of the day in terms of 'unusual and exciting' was actually a bat walk that Thing One and I went on this evening but such an event is not really camera-friendly :-D.

Give yourself a shiny!

Super-shiny........
Like the numpty I am, I forgot to take my camera to work today. So instead of a picture of Tammy's increasingly bold brood being silly, or indeed of Tammy herself throwing a strop because the calves' trough is too high for her, or of her then realising she can get her snout in if she stands up on her hind legs... well, you get a picture of the inside of my washing machine instead.
I like the inside of my washing machine - it looks more science-fictiony than Deep Space 9, Farscape and Battlestar Galactica rolled into one - but it's not as cool as piggies.

Sunshine on a rainy day

Or alternatively rain on a sunny day. During one of the sunny spells I caught sunshine on this flower (whatever it is) - it's such a vivid colour, so juicy-looking! It's another case of the day's picture being chosen primarily because it's cheerful; apologies for it being yet another close-up of a plant. You wouldn't believe how many I've taken now, but I'm still madly in love with my camera's macro mode!

The distinguished gentleman

My oldest friend
This teddy knows how to play for sympathy - still, he's not bad for 50-odd.

I got cold feet

Benjamina Gunn: You're a frog, you're supposed to have cold feet.

So anyway, today I had cold feet. I could only find one slipper so I wore my beloved's naalbinding socks (made by me some time back, from lopi wool and vaguely copying the Coppergate sock), and they're blissfully cosy. Might make myself some..

I love a good yarn..

As a matter of fact today's highlight was seeing Mamma Mia (a damn good yarn) but there are few photo opportunities on a trip to the cinema, so the best pic from this morning's 'I-wonder-if-a-close-up-of-yarn-would-turn-out-okay' session will have to suffice. Bee and Mudpaddle, this is your fault - I succumbed to Violet Green temptation!

Drip drip drop

..little, er, August showers.

It was as wet as a wet thing today - a wellie-boots and raincoat day at work. Splashing in muddy puddles in the manner of Peppa Pig.

Tusks and eyelashes

Thing One's latest thing is teaching us stuff - today's lesson was 'mammoths and giraffes'. I suspect he knows more about both of them than I do.. I don't know if it's really visible in the photo but the giraffe even has eyelashes ('to keep the sun out of their eyes') - his attention to detail makes me chuckle sometimes!
Note to Bee: check out the laundry bag - he said today that it's the best laundry bag :-D.

Arty-farty triffids

Well, echinops maybe..
It was so hard to choose a photo today - I had a spare five minutes when it was quiet at work today and went rounding taking pictures of plants and flowers at the farm. I chose this one in the end as it just makes me feel happy! It was a gorgeous morning in terms of the weather - bright and sunny and warm but much fresher than it's been the previous few days.

Chaaaaaarge!

Every time I look at this picture I get the Dambusters theme running through my head
- how very odd. This is Tammy and her horde. The piglets are getting very cheeky and curious now. They keep sneaking under the bottom of the fence into the bushes and round to the hens' run. The hens don't know what to make of them at all and run over to the sides of the run to stare.

Dreich

A return to form - it was both foggy and rainy as we headed back down the A9. I'm quite surpised this picture came out as well as it did, considering we were in motion. Clever camera!
