Daaaaad!

Gardening ignorance yet again - Dad (or anybody!), what is this plant in my garden?

Summer fruit

The first strawberries. We only have a few plants so never get many strawberries, but those we do get are delicious.

Family Picnic

We went to Whitelee Wind Farm again. The weather was changeable but warm and the kids had a picnic. I love this picture - Miss Mouse just looks as if we she was born to eat outside, and the Boy and MrBorg were being funny. Bliss.

The kids after their swimming class.

Gifted II

Part of the Boy's drawing for his other teacher. It's the end of term! Woohoo! (Though secretly I'm thinking aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh!)

Longest

Along with many others I got weirdly fascinated by the Longest Set over the last couple of days, oddly compelling but at the same time astoundingly dull. So as my mind was mostly on the television it's appropriate that my picture is of the television just after the epic Isner-Mahut match eventually came to an end.

Gifted

The Boy drew this picture as a gift for one of his teachers (he has two) - lots of flowers because 'girls like flowers'. I like the way they're distinct types of flowers though.

Idyllic II

After school we went to Kittochside again - needed to get something in the museum shop, and as we'd had to hurry away the other day to take the cat to the vet, I let the kids play in the play area for a bit today.

The last week of term

And glorious weather. This was my saunter up to the school to get the Boy.

The Invalid

Toby has acquired an injury (we suspect it was a bite from the Other Cat that was winding him up so much in the garden) and has a cone to stop him licking the wound. Naturally he's quite adept at removing it.

Idyllic

Not my garden alas - this is the kitchen garden at Kittochside. MrBorg was away for the day on a motorbike trip so the kids and I went to the farm. It was a beautiful day.

Courtyard

Miss Mouse and I met up with my friend and her daughter at the park. It was a really glorious day - Miss Mouse was wearing the tunic/dress that Uncle Hopalong (Uncle Soon-Not-To-Be-Hopalong that is!) got her in India - it jingles so she loves it, but is also very cool on a hot day. We had lunch in the courtyard bit of the cafe - look at that sky!

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

Our only fear is that the sky will fall on our heads.

I took the boy swimming after school - as we arrived it really looked as if it was going to absolutely pour, possibly with thunder, lightning and other disturbing meteorological wotsits (apologies to my cousin the meteorologist, though I wouldn't put it past her to say the same thing). But it didn't really come to much. We really should have a word for that sneaking feeling of meteorological disappointment.

Picnic

Since I'm a truly wonderful mother, Miss Mouse and I had a picnic lunch in the garden. I'm just that great. (If I tell her this often enough she'll believe me).

A Farewell to Ted

So we get to the end of the Adventure Ted project and Ted has to be returned to school. Bye Ted! Have great adventures with the next kid!

School Fun Day

As well as my stint on the 'homebakes' stall (really must make an effort to bake for it next year, especially now I know what goes down well), I got to wander round the other stalls this year and watch my kids on the bouncy castle and on the pony rides.

Fencing part 2.

The fence goes up. Quite a long way in fact. I knew in theory how high it would be but the reality is more.. substantial.

Now I'm planning what plants I can have climbing along it! Note the gap at the end - I'm not sure what's happening with that. It shows that the garden slopes more than we realised.

Fencing

No, not Sulu running around with a skewer, bits of the New Fence. Substantial.

And some daisies.

Other Cat

Toby bravely defending the garden from an Other Cat by sitting on the roof of the playhouse looking worried. Note the Other Cat feigning disinterest. Yeah, right.

Cafe life

Miss Mouse and I had lunch in the Morrisons' cafe. Not wildly exotic but we enjoyed ourselves!

Gappy

Adventure Ted is still with us (his last week). Lucky Ted was a witness to the Boy losing his very first wobbly tooth! Actually not literally a witness - the Boy had gone swimming with Grandma and Miss Mouse. He jumped in the pool and the tooth made a bid for freedom. How it didn't end up on the bottom of the swimming-pool I don't know, but somehow the Boy saved it and the Tooth Fairy didn't have to dig out the scuba gear.

bike

MrBorg off on his bike.

Summery sky

A warm enough day that Toby spent quite a lot of it lurking under the whirly in a patch of shade.

de-fence-less

Apparently the old fence between us and next-door was made from old pallets 20 years ago! I'm impressed.

The time has come though to replace it, and Mr-Next-door is tackling it. We're chipping in and I've been pulling up the fuchsia that was lovingly intertwined with the fence and trying to take over the world. The cats are bewildered by the sudden easy access.

Entertaining cats

Wheee, little mice!

Requires attention.

Sitting on the track is perhaps not the best idea.

You know a toy is good when it entertains the whole family, including pets.
